Benefits Of Bael

Benefits of Bael

Belonging to the same family as an orange, bael has a hard thin woody shell which turns yellow when it becomes ripe. Its pulp is also similar to that of the orange fruit with many seeds embedded on it. This tree’s fruits fame rests entirely on its properties which are said to be medicinal. The bael fruit tree is commonly found in India and its barks are used as sacred offerings to Lord Shiva. Both Malaysia and Indonesia also consider this tree’s barks sacred. Below are other benefits of bael.

1. Natural laxative
Ripe bael fruit is considered to have high medicinal value and is therefore best to consume while it ripens. It is used as a laxative because it is able to clean and tone up the intestines in the case of constipation. If used regularly for a period of two months, ripe bael fruit helps to empty old faecal matter which accumulates in the bowels. It can best be taken as a fruit or as a sherbat (mixture of the pulp of the ripe fruit mixed with a little sugar and milk.)

2. Relieves diarrhea
The half ripe or unripe fruit is an effective food remedy for dysentery and chronic diarrhea. To achieve the best results, use a dried bael fruit or the fruit in its powder form. The fruit is dried under the sun and dried. When used in acute diarrhea, it significantly reduces the amount of faeces being passed and instead an individual passes out mucus and blood. However after a short time the blood will gradually disappear and the stool produced assumes a solid feculent solid form.

3. Cures ear problems
The roots of the bael tree are a remedy for ear problems. They are immersed into neem oil and lighted with the oil that drips being dripped into the ear.

Nevertheless, the bael fruit should not be taken in excessive because it makes the stomach feel heavy.
