yoghurtBenefits Of Yogurt
Yogurt is a unique combination of milk and living bacterial cultures. It is especially eaten by people who suffer from problem of lactose inefficiency. Although a fermented dairy product yogurt contains all nutrients that are present in milk, thus making it a nutritional food. The elements essential for good health that are present in yogurt include minerals, carbohydrates, vitamins and water. Yogurt also contains rich quantities of good bacteria like lactobacillus, making it a healthy food for humans. These friendly bacteria provide numerous health benefits to individuals. These include:

1.Provides body with Calcium.
Yogurt is a very good source of calcium to the body. If taken regularly yogurt is capable of fulfilling about forty percent bodily needs of calcium that is essential for bone development.

2.Useful source of nutrients for people with lactose inefficiency.
Milk contains lactose sugar which is digested b6y the enzyme lactase in the body. Many people are deficient in this enzyme and are unable to digest lactose. The living bacteria present in yogurt break down lactose present in it before it entersÂ’ the body. It thus becomes easily digestible by the system and helps prevent lactose intolerance.

3.Prevents fungus growth in vagina.
Yeast infections in the body can be helped by good bacteria present in yogurt. The reason for these infections is a fungus that resides in the vagina of the females. Growth and multiplication of this fungus begins suddenly causing burning, itching and other painful conditions. Regular intake of yogurt helps to maintain a healthy balance of the natural bacteria that are found in vagina and prevents the growth and multiplication of this fungus.

4.Excellent moisturizer that prevents aging.
Whole-milk yogurt or plain low-fat yogurt contains lactic acid that is excellent for the skin. It helps in reducing wrinkles, softening of the skin, and hydrating dry areas. To get the best results spread it evenly on face, legs and arms and then rinse with lukewarm water after 15-20 minutes.

5.Helps develop the body immunity.
The bacteria present in yogurt helps to develop body immunity towards many diseases. Regular intake of yogurt increases the level of a protein known as gamma interferon. This protein supports the white blood cells in fighting against diseases and infections. Yogurt improves the body’s ability to fight bacterial infections like food poisoning.

6.Helps in preventing ulcers.
Yogurt is useful in fighting against ulcers. Ulcers are caused by bacteria that live in the stomach and are usually cured with antibiotics. Consumption of living active culture found in yogurt, helps in limiting the growth of ulcer-causing bacteria in the system.

But be very careful when you are buying yogurt. Make sure you purchase yogurt that contains live and active bacterial cultures. Do check the label and buy the freshest yogurt. The good bacteria present in yogurt are unable to withstand heat and undergo destruction. So consume your yogurt while it is cold.
