Pineapple contains rich quantities of Vitamin C and is used for relieving cold. Pineapple contains a substance known as Bromelain which is anti-inflammatory and helps in the loosening of mucus. Due to the presence of this compound pineapple is also useful in curing cough.

2.Pineapple helps in treating constipation

Pineapple contains rich quantities of fiber that helps in the proper bowel movement and passing of stool from the body. Thus pineapple prevents and relieves constipation. A cup of pineapple is sufficient for providing almost 75% of recommended quantity of manganese. So, pineapple is useful in bone and connective tissue growth in young as well as old people.

Approximately 33% of pineapple is vitamin C which acts as an antioxidant. The metabolic reactions taking place in the body produce a large number of free radicals that damage healthy body cells and buildup plaque on the inner walls of arteries. This is the chief cause of atherosclerosis and heart diseases. Antioxidants like vitamin C help in converting these radicals into harmless compounds and remove them out of the body. Thus pineapples are beneficial in preventing all these diseases.

6.Provides energy to the body
The high carbohydrate and sugar contents of pineapples make it useful for providing instant energy to the body.
